The Return is in Sight

It has taken a few YEARS, but Studio Atelier will be re-activated in a couple of months. We have moved from our home of over 30 years and are beginning to settle into our new place. It's going to take several weeks to get my studio set up, and believe me it's long overdue. I can't wait to get warmed up and painting on several pieces that have been in limbo for months.

I hope you are having fun with your art. I'll be back in September.

April 2012: Tuscan Still Life

Rebecca Wang
Sylvia Young

This photo is from a still life class I'm teaching.  During the previous class, we discussed themes and what each student wanted to paint, and here is the outcome.  Each student brought in a few items for this class session to add to the still life, and we spent a good 45 minutes arranging everything so that everyone agreed it was something they could develop into a painting.  I'm eager to see how each of them handles the arrangement, and I look forward to what you accomplish as well.

(Forgive us if you are from this region of the world and disagree with some of the items in the photo.  None of us has actually been there.)

Feel free to use this photo, or if you have your own idea for a similar still life, by all means paint that and send it in.  Have fun with it!

Remember to follow the "Rules of the Road" on the right and send me your images as an attachment to your email.  The May challenge will be posted on May 13, 2012.  Thanks to everyone who participates, and good luck.   Happy Painting!
